Red-winged Parrot (Aprosmictus erythropterus)

Description:
31 cm. Bright green, slender, and long tail. Tunggir wings stained red and blue. Males have black backs and red spots at the larger wings. Female green-backed.

 
Behavior:
Joined in pairs or large groups up to more than 50 fish. Flying a light and somewhat uncertain. Arboreal birds that feed on seeds, fruits, flowers, and insects in the savannah and open areas are overgrown with trees.
 

Voice:
Sharp and firm like a hammer, also a series of votes like a hawk-alap.
 

Distribution:
Open savanna in the Trans-Fly, between the estuaries S. Digul and S. Fly, and near sea level in Papua. Also found in Australia.
