Brehm's Tiger Parrot

Description:
19-24 cm. Medium size, cover the tail below the red, khaki green head, back and tunggir trestle. Boundary between the face and throat typical olive-colored uniforms and upper chest of green light (male) or trestle yellow and black (female). Males with yellow sheen on the neck.
Behavior:
Foraging in the various layers of 'black, but more often found in shrubs and grass at the edge of the forest, eating whole grains and fruits that are more limited kind. Flying in a short distance and duration above the canopy. Birds are benign, usually alone or in small groups up to 4 tails. Picking up grit from the trail. Birds are common but not conspicuous.
Voice:
Voice calls are clear "ee yurr" that sounded sad.
Distribution:
Central Range of Papua, Bird's Head peninsula and the Huon region, at an altitude of 1500-2600 m.
